A wonderful evergreen shrub or small tree with unusual inverted tulip-shaped, crimson to deep pink flowers which hang like fruit from the undersides of its branches from late spring to mid-summer. Perfect for a shady spot. Can be slow-growing at first and take a while to settle. Does well in a shady border or large container. Prefers moist, well-drained and acidic soil with its roots firmly in the shade. Hardy throughout most of the UK to -10°C. Requires winter protection only in the coldest parts of the UK.
